Of course you do, you just said it. Anyways, I’m seventeen. I’m from Lexington. Nothing ever happens there. Ever. Um, I’m a christian. I’ve been told I have a wonderful voice. I have no friends. I live with my dad. My mom died giving birth. Ya know what, I don’t know where I’m going with this, okay? I don’t even know what I’m saying. Moral of the story: I’m a loner, I have no friends, and I want to leave this town. That’s all you need to know.”“Well, why do you want to be chosen to come here?”→”My dad says it’ll be good for me. Plus, I want to have fun. I’ve been making a list ever since I heard about this thing. I’m pretty innocent. I’ve never really done anything that most teenagers have. I’ve never gotten drunk, smoken weed, or never gone to a party. The best part is, I’m a virgin. I just want to know what it’s like to have fun and have friends, ya know. Sounds cheesy and cliche, but it’s true. That’s all there is to it.”
Kasey Valentine. The name could be said to every person on the planet, every person in Lexington, and nobody knows who Kasey is, aside from her and her father. Ever since she was young, she was always the girl playing alone, or sitting reading books in the corner of the library. She earned the honor of being the school freak by second grade, and soon people just stopped trying to be friends with her and left her alone. That was the way she liked it. But one day during the summer before high school began, a new boy moved to town. His name was Shane, and he lived next door to Kasey. They became good friends over the summer, and one day while they were laying in Kasey’s bedroom, and he kissed her. She wasn’t sure how to act, or what to say, but she liked it, and she kissed back. She knew right then that she only wanted to be with him. They began secretly dating, and promised each other not to say anything to anyone. Freshman year began, and Kasey returned to her place as the unknown school freak, sneaking around between classes with Shane and messing around. Shane began becoming popular, and one day, Kasey found Shane with the popular crowd and messing around with another girl. He acted like he knew nothing about her, like she was invisable. After much arguing in the middle of the lunch room, Shane stood up and yelled at Kasey and said “Just leave! Nobody wants to be around the school prude!” Ever since, she’s avoided everyone, especially him. She’s now known back home as the prude school freak, but now that she’s here she is destined to lose her virginity and fall in love again.
“What are a few things on your list, Kasey?”“I’ll read you the first five, but the rest I’ll have to change and fix later. Okay?Get drunk for the first time.Fall in love with a guy who loves me for me.Get stoned.Kiss someone I just met.Go to a party. It seems like a pretty lame list, I know. But still. I like them.”
